3 Reasons Why You Should Be Logging Your Offline Bookings

Decrease cancellations by as much as 12%.

On average, tours and activities operators with reservation management systems like Bókun see an increase in booking conversion of up to 49%, and a decrease in cancellations by as much as 12%. Despite these statistics, many operators aren’t sure about adopting new technology. In many cases, operators say, “I don’t need one — my current process is fine” or “my company is too small.''

It is estimated that 80% of tours and activities operators’ gross booking value comes from offline bookings (phone, email, walk-in). And it’s estimated that more than 50% of operators have less than 5 managed members on staff. With those numbers, it’s easy to lose track of bookings made offline.

Travelers expect flexibility and a high quality customer experience when booking their tours and experiences. Reviews are more important than ever, and organizational mistakes such as over-bookings can cost customers and lead to negative reviews.

Check out these three tips to make sure you’re ahead of the curve:

1. Don’t risk getting overbooked.
Taking offline bookings and not logging them in your reservation management software runs the risk of overbooking your tours. Operators that use a reservation systems like Bókun see a decrease in company-led cancellations by as much as 12%.

2. Re-market to your customers.
Re-market to your customers — whether they booked offline or online — by sending them an automated email campaign. Bókun’s Automated Messages feature can be customized to send your customers an email a specific number of days after travel, and can include a review link for them to review their tour on Tripadvisor. Email your past customers for a chance to convert them into a repeat purchase, a referral, or a review.

3. See where your supply is coming from.
Be in the know. With Bókun, you can see where your bookings are coming from and keep track of all of your channels in one centralized dashboard.
