Who We Are
Bókun is an all-in-one platform designed to help tour, activity and experience providers streamline operations and grow bookings.
Part of the Tripadvisor and Viator family, Bókun brings the industry together through a distribution Marketplace of thousands of suppliers and resellers plus dozens of global, regional and local OTA connections.
History
Founded in 2012, Bókun was born out of the booming tourism industry in Iceland. The aim was to help suppliers capitalise on the increased appetite for tours and activities in the region and to aid in increasing traveller bookings from across the globe.
Bókun's customer base grew quickly among local suppliers as well as Fortune 500 companies under the steerage of co-founders Hjalti Baldursson and Ólafur Gauti Guðmundsson.
In 2018, Bókun was acquired by Tripadvisor in a bid to connect the industry and continue the mission of helping more tour and activity operators move their businesses online.
We operate independently to Tripadvisor with our own senior management team reporting into General Manager, Jennie Peacock-Putt. Bókun does not share data of our operators with Tripadvisor or Viator.
Mission
Working alongside tour and activity operators, Bókun wants to take the hard work out of growing a business.
By providing operators with the tools to become bookable online and manage reservations easily, operators can grow their business and provide travellers with a seamless booking experience.
Bókun provides a bridge between operators and connectivity partners, and aims to connect the industry through Marketplace and OTA connections.
